The University of Mississippi Speech and Debate Team engages global communication through British Parliamentary Worlds Style Debate. Housed under the Trent Lott Leadership Institute, the University of Mississippi Speech and Debate Team challenges students of all majors and backgrounds to think critically and improve their communication skills through debate and public speaking. As a team, we practice regularly to grow these skills and prepare to compete on the national circuit across the United States against the best and brightest of competitors. We host several on campus public debates throughout the year and invite all of our students, faculty, staff, and community to come and participate in these exhibitions as judges. Also, every year we host the university’s high school speech and debate tournament as well as Speaker’s Edge, a public speaking competition for our MBA and Masters in Accountancy Programs. Be intuitive, be creative, be brilliant and come visit us to see what intercollegiate debate is truly about.
